EPack 3-PH is the ideal solution for the control of all kinds of loads. The control of each phase ensures accurate control, even if the loads are unbalanced). The currents and voltage measures also allow a high level of diagnostics, which can be used for alarm management as well as monitoring (impedance, energy counter, reactive power).

EPack 2-PH is the latest generation of power controllers designed to be a cost effective solution for the control of 3 phase loads. The 2 leg control is particularly adapted to the control of balanced loads, directly, or through transformers. Burst firing avoids generation of harmonics and reduces the consumption of reactive power.

EPack 1-PH power controllers are designed to carry currents from 1 to 125 amps, with operating voltage between 100 and 500 Volts

Some Industrial processes require precise temperatures in order to comply with regulations and it is imperative that the workpiece temperature is kept within specific limits, such as heat treatment. This may be difficult to achieve in factories where the operation of large machinery can cause fluctuations in the voltage supply. Undesirable temperature fluctuations can be caused by resistive heaters, which may variation up to 10% in the supply voltage and will generate a 20% variation in the power to the load. The EFit contains built in compensation that continues to apply stable power with better than ±2% linearity at the boundaries of the load, even during fluctuations in the supply. The result is repeatable heating process and a reliable high quality end products, which is compliant to demanding heat treatment standards.

Mechanical contactors controlling heating elements may operate three million times per year. The lifetime of these contactors is between 1 and 3 years; therefore they need to be replaced regularly during the typical life of an industrial machine.

ESwitch is an interesting solution to solving this problem. The lifetime is significantly extended because the contact is electronic. Its wiring is as simple as for a mechanical contactor and the mounting is very easy: just clip it on a DIN rail! Despite the high profile, one point that often evades the spotlight is the amount of energy actually required to produce the world's electricity supplies. Today's economy, energy efficiency - or, more accurately, the lack of it - is a strongly debated topic that incites passions in companies and consumers alike. To improve the profitability of its operation and efficiency, one major European electricity provider deployed a solutions centered on Eurotherm's proven EPower controller technology.

Action Efficiency

The EPower controller was installed on a heat treatment furnace at the client's site. In this application, EPower manages the heating elements and regulates power input across the combustion process, combining improved data accuracy with real-time networking and load analysis and communications.

The EPower controller sends live network data and furnace-load directly to the control room, enabling operators to modify their process strategy immediately in accordance with the incoming data feed. Changes made to the control type, load configuration and firing mode all facilitate improved process efficiency.

Increased Efficiency and Safety with Lower costs

Through sophisticated shedding techniques and sharing, EPower's Predictive Load Management (PLM) capability enabled this provider to reduce facility-wide energy costs by providing more efficient distribution across a variety conditions and loads by preventing overshoot of nominal power. EPower enables them to stay within their contract limits.

The customer is additionally avoiding tariffs that could be assessed if stringent government emissions tolerance requirement are not met consistently. The solutions enables accurate record-keeping that provides proof of the provider's compliance. Without these reports, the operation would be in danger of being shut down.

EPower's ability accurately predict continually and, to monitor and adjust to demand is creating more efficient energy production for the customer. Company executives estimate that the solutions will reduce energy costs by improving overall process efficiency by as much as 10%. Because no electrical parts were ever exposed, the configuration also offered a secondary safety benefit, especially to untrained personnel.

The 3500 is a fully programmable controller suitable for precision control of temperature, dew-point, carbon potential and oxygen in atmosphere heat treatment applications.

It is capable of being used solely to control the carbon potential, oxygen in a furnace or dew-point. Also functioning as an integrated furnace controller where any of these variables are controlled in conjunction with temperature. Additional features provide combined logic and math functions.

At the heart of the controller is a specially designed function block capable of accepting most zirconia probes. Standard features include an automatic probe cleaning routine, a shooting alarm and diagnostics indicating that the probe is about to fail and should be replaced.
For standard solutions controllers can be configured with features and user screens.

User customization can be achieved by reconfiguring the unit either via the front panel or the comprehensive PC based Eurotherm iTools.

The Eurotherm range of 3216i indicators provides accurate indication of temperature and process measurements. Process features including over temperature furnace limits, are implemented using relay output channels.
